G.V.W.P. Writing and Technology Workshop
June 4 - June 15 2012
This two-week summer writing class by the Great Valley Writing Project is designed to help children strengthen their skills in writing and technology. Through this program, children learn writing techniques and strategies and how computer sites and programs can help them with their writing. Fun and helpful websites that they can continue to use at home, like Storybird, help children learn to love writing. In class they incorporate their own illustrations as well as others' in their writing. They create their own stories and share them with their peers and teachers. They learn the different steps to the writing process and the need to include details and colorful words in their writing. Our lively, little learners also have a break everyday, enjoying snacks and playing on the playground.
The Kindergarten through 3rd grade students' chapter of the Writing and Technology Workshop is located at Ripon Elementary School, taking place in one of the classrooms and the computer lab. This website includes pictures of the students working and learning in the classrooms and playing at recess, videos of them, a classroom tour, and a teachers page with teachers' comments on the program.
